- Annotation: The article examines the poetic cycle “Following One’s Nose” by Alexander Timofeevskiy as an innovative example of second-order ekphrasis. The authors argue that Alexander Timofeevskiy radically rethinks the traditional practice of describing works of art, shifting the focus from interpreting the plot to the materiality of the artistic act itself. Artistic materials (charcoal, sanguine, oil) act not as passive tools but as active agents that shape experience and memory. The research is conducted through the lens of speculative realism and object-oriented ontology, demonstrating how the poetry by Alexander Timofeevskiy de-centres the human subject and becomes an artistic embodiment of the key ideas of contemporary philosophical trends. The cycle is considered a development of the ontological intuitions outlined in Joseph Brodsky’s poem “At an Exhibition of Carel Willink’s Work”.
