- Annotation:
The basic principle of cognitive linguistics “reality-cognition-language” is the basis for explaining the functioning of the metaphorical concept. Based on the research of the cognitive approach to metaphor, the author selects epigraphic expressions with the meaning of age from the corpus of Russian and Chinese languages, and analyzes figurative expressions formed on the basis of comparative analysis and metaphorical transfer. The study shows that Russian-Chinese age metaphors contain six groups of similar images: natural phenomena, geological forms, plant species, animal images, food and everyday necessities. It is revealed that topological relations with the Russian-Chinese age lexicon reflect not only linguistic identity but also cultural differences between Russian and Chinese peoples.
