- Annotation: This review of the photo album of the distinguished intelligent Sreznevsky family is published in the style of a scholarly essay and aims to heighten interest in these outstanding linguists of Russia’s past, whose work unfolded within the bosom of family life and was largely the fruit of their shared paths, as well as the result of their scientific and cultural collaborations. The authorship of Nina Kolgushkina, who was the first in Russian history to do this through the visualisation of the great linguist’s life through photographs with insightful commentary, is noted (the album’s predecessor was originally a book by Nina Kolgushkina about Izmail Sreznevsky and his family). Furthermore, his numerous descendants are not only depicted against a backdrop of family, friends, and colleagues, but also their mutual assistance and friendly support are clearly expressed in the photographs. The extraordinary, socially significant concept of the album’s author, with the theoretical support of the general editor, Professor Oleg Nikitin, the abundance of photographs with their good commentary, and the high quality of the book album’s printing allow us to consider this work to be an outstanding achievement of the Russian culture.
