Annotation: This article discusses the linguistic representation and dynamic communication of cultural codes in the media space. The author consistently describes the types of cultural codes, proposes a classification of linguistic units to research into cultural code, and analyses how network folklore communicates cultural codes. The key research methods include structural analysis, content analysis, linguistic analysis, and the analysis of culturally marked linguistic units. As a result, this study highlights eight ways of communicating cultural codes in network folklore: a unit of cultural code can be directly mentioned, allusively described, put in another context, deconstructed, reflexively described, developed, another word meaning can be integrated in its composition, and a new narrative can be generated based on several units of cultural code. The results can be of interest to linguists, master’s and postgraduate students studying media communication, cultural linguistics, and cross-cultural communication.
Keywords: cultural code, unit of cultural code, dynamic communication of cultural code, media communication, online poetry, network folklore (netlore), pirozhok “pie rhyme”, poroshok (“mindless” rhyme).
