Annotation: The article is devoted to the problems of determining the status of modern terminology of the film industry and the principles of its classification. The purpose of the research is to describe the film industry terminology as an integral part of the general linguistic lexical system by classifying it in terms of etymological, semantic, morphological and structural criteria. The key features of the terminology of the film industry are analysed. The possibilities of the terminology of the film industry for the formation of families of terms with a common component, the so-called terminological nest, are determined. The defining properties of the term as a specific lexical unit are revealed. The functions and features of the term as an integral element of the general linguistic lexical system are described. The differentiation of a commonly used word and term is carried out along with the definition of the structural and semantic features of the latter and its prevailing functions. The etymological, semantic, morphological and structural classification of film industry terms is carried out. It is concluded that the terminology of the film industry is an element of a general linguistic lexical system with its own characteristic features, such as hierarchical structuring, strict cluster distribution of terminological units based on hypo-hyperonymic relationships within the system.
