Annotation: In recent decades, contemporary research has been paid close attention to the study of intertextuality. However, the phenomenon of fairy-tale allusion in media has been insufficiently studied, which determines topicality of text analysis in contemporary media discourse. The authors attempt to identify the features of allusive inclusions and their functioning through the analysis of speech structures. This article studies allusions to the Sleeping Beauty image in German-language media discourse. The accumulated empirical material enabled us to categorise and describe the most common intertextual frames by type of allusion. The study material includes original articles from online publications in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland for 2023-2024, containing allusions to the image of Sleeping Beauty. The researchers come to the following conclusion: allusions to the image of Sleeping Beauty are understandable to representatives of the global European space. That is why they are so often used by authors of media texts. The contemporary German-language media discourse actively resorts to the allusion to the fairy tale «Sleeping Beauty», using not only explicit and implicit methods of borrowing, but also varying degrees of transformation, often employing this allusion as an element of parody, thus seeking to attract the readers’ attention and forcing them to decode the presented information.
Keywords: allusion, explicit allusiveness, intertextuality, Sleeping Beauty, German language, German-language media discourse
