- Annotation: The issue of dating an urban settlement in case of lack of a clear and specific written confirmation of its foundation, is always extremely problematic and complicated. This study is the result of archaeological research in 2016-2017 in the territory of the Old City of the second Kostroma Kremlin, shedding light on the time of its foundation. The article presents the main results of the field work carried out within the framework of section I.
