- Annotation: The author of the article considers analytical conclusions of influential representatives of the U.S. expert community that Beijing in the early 21st century has become a dangerous rival for Washington, threatening America’s leadership on the world stage. In addition to economic competition, China’s growing political independence, which is actively cooperating with Russia in the BRICS group format, has also contributed to this. Under these circumstances, the American expert community has increasingly begun to ask, what the reason for China’s rapid economic and political rise is. The article notes that the main result of these reflections is a thoughtful study by representatives of the American intellectual elite, who view U.S. foreign and domestic policy through a “Chinese mirror,” coming to disappointing conclusions for Washington. The author of the article concludes that their assessments are confirmed by statistical data and facts of American processing.
