- Annotation: The purpose of the article is to consider the features of the development of urbanonyms in the Russian cities, which perpetuate the memory of the participants and events of the special military operation. The author notes that such names continue the tradition of establishing memoratives in honor of participants in military conflicts, the tradition formed in the pre-revolutionary and Soviet periods of the country’s history. Urban toponyms perpetuating the memory of the special military operation were collected from the Internet using search engines. Currently, about 150 urbanonyms have been established in 75 cities of the Russian Federation. The bulk of urbanonyms were formed in 2022–2023. There are three types of urbanonyms perpetuating the memory of the special military operation in Russian cities: personal memoratives, collective dedications, and dedications to administrative burial names. The analysis showed that personal memoratives prevail, accounting for 84,7 %. The author notes the identical names appearing in Russian cities: the most widespread are urbanonyms in honor of A. Zakharchenko and V. Zhoga, as well as collective dedications such as the Heroes of Donbass Street, the Defenders of Donbass Street, and the Heroes of the Special Military Operation Street. Dedications to city burial names are presented exclusively in Moscow. The analysis showed that memorials in honor of the special military operation take a prominent place among new urbanonyms of Russian cities, and their further creation can be expected.
