- Annotation: This article examines the processes of designing, creating and developing a unique class of military equipment samples intended for dry cleaning of military clothing outside stationary facilities for the needs of the Armed forces in peacetime and wartime. Particular attention is paid to the prerequisites for the development of mobile workshops for dry cleaning of uniforms and the decisions taken by the military departments of the clothing service on the development of one of the assigned classes of military equipment. The article uses archival materials from the Military Economic Directorate of the Workers’ and Peasants’ Red army, the Directorate of Cart and Clothing Supply of the Red army, the Main Quartermaster Directorate of the Red army, the Clothing Directorate of the USSR Ministry of Defence, and the Central Clothing Directorate of the USSR Ministry of Defence. Information obtained in the archive of the Base (experimental and test) military unit 54169 has been introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. The results of the study are aimed at systematising the historical and technical knowledge of military equipment in general and the technical means of the clothing service of the Armed Forces in the Russian Federation in particular.
